Do I need six-inch gutters, or are five-inch gutters enough?
Many North Texas homes benefit from 6-inch gutters. Heavy rain can overflow smaller gutters, and water that spills over can collect near your foundation. A 6-inch gutter holds more water and moves it away from the house. All My Brothers Construction has been installing 6-inch gutters throughout Arlington for this reason.
Heavy rain and gutters
North Texas storms can bring a lot of rain in a short time. Large roofs send that water into the gutters quickly, and when a gutter cannot keep up, water spills over the edge and runs down the wall and onto the ground next to the foundation.
What a larger gutter does
A 6-inch gutter holds more water than a 5-inch gutter, and it is usually paired with larger downspouts. Together they move water off the roof and away from the house more quickly.
Gutters and your foundation
Much of the DFW area sits on clay soil that expands when it is wet and shrinks when it dries. Directing water away from your foundation is one of the simplest ways to help protect it.
When 5-inch gutters are enough
Smaller roofs, porches and garages may not need 6-inch gutters. We can look at your home and recommend the right size.
Gutters and storm damage
Hail often dents gutters in the same storm that damages the roof. If your gutters were damaged, they can be replaced along with the roof as part of your insurance claim.
